The landmark hotels in French Lick and West Baden Springs—located one mile apart in southern Indiana—offer a fascinating window on the grand hotel era of the early twentieth century and the tradition of “taking the waters.” Guests from Bing Crosby to Franklin Delano Roosevelt, captains of industry and pampered socialites came to drink the smelly sulfur water, take spa treatments, and often test their luck in the casinos.

Day 1
Travel to French Lick, Indiana, with lunch included at French Lick Winery. We then check into the beautiful 5-Star Historical West Baden Springs Hotel. There will be free time to explore West Baden Springs Hotel as well as historical French Lick Hotel, one mile away, aboard the free trolley that runs between these two hotels. Dinner is on your own tonight at one of the many restaurants in this complex. (L)

Following a delicious breakfast at Sinclair Restaurant, you are free to take the historical tours of both hotels, and you don’t want to miss that. The history of these hotels are absolutely amazing! You might want to do some Christmas shopping at both hotels at their unique shops, visit the French Lick Casino, perhaps relax in either spa or just people watch today. Dinner is included tonight at Sinclair’s Restaurant inside West Baden Springs Hotel.

Enjoy another delicious breakfast this morning. Following lunch on your own, we will depart for home with wonderful memories of a glamorous, historically beautiful time in our area’s history. (B)
