We’ll tour the Chocolate, Chocolate, Chocolate handmade chocolates factory viewing the caramels, cherry cordials, and other holiday delights on the conveyor belts.. Afterward, shop for delicious gifts. This company now supplies all the chocolates for Dillards stores, as well as many specialty shops. On the famous St. Louis Italian Hill, we’ll spend a few minutes browsing and shopping at DiGregario’s Italian Grocery and the headquarters/production plant/store of Herbaria Soaps across the street. Then enjoy a delicious lunch at Zia’s On the Hill.
After lunch, walk across the street to purchase wonderful baked goods at the famous 140-year old Missouri Baking Company, and/or stroll one block to purchase imported cheeses and sausages at Volpi’s Meat Market. We’ll then visit the holiday favorite, Walter Knoll’s, on St Louis’ Wholesale Floral Row. Tour the cooler full of fresh flowers, watch the floral designers making holiday arrangements, shop for wreaths and ornaments, and purchase fresh poinsettias and other holiday plants at half-price. This is an absolutely amazing place!
We’ll end the day with a visit to a terrific two-block shopping area along old Route 66 in the suburb of Maplewood. Penzey’s Spices has spices from all over the world. The German store, Vom Fass, has vinegars and liquors right from the vcask. Great Harvest Bread Company has delicious warm breads of many types. There’s also a pet store, jewelry store, coffee shops, the favorite St. Louis bookstore, vintage hardware that sells fresh eggs, and much more.
