Day 1
We begin our adventure to beautiful New England today, traveling through Indiana and into Ohio, where we overnight at the Drury Inn Columbus Polaris in Columbus, Ohio. Enjoy the included Kickback dinner at the hotel tonight. (D)
Day 2
Today we continue our journey, overnighting at the beautiful Turning Stone Resort and Casino in Verona, New York. You will receive a $20 dinner coupon to use at any food venue in the resort. You will also receive $10 free play. (B, D)
Day 3
Enjoy breakfast with your $15 meal voucher before we depart. This afternoon – welcome to the beautiful Green Mountains of Vermont! We will arrive in the lovely town of Manchester, VT, in time for lunch on your own before visiting Hildene, the former summer home of Robert Todd Lincoln, son of Abraham Lincoln and his wife, Mary Harlan Lincoln. We’ll tour the 24-room Georgian Revival mansion, restored Pullman car, goat dairy, Dene Farm (dene – valley with stream) and magnificent gardens. We’ll then continue north to the Essex Resort & Spa for a relaxing two-night stay. Upon arrival, we will receive a warm greeting and have time to settle in before enjoying a delicious dinner together. (B, D)
Day 4
After breakfast, we will meet our local guide and begin a spectacular day touring around northern Vermont, enjoying the splendid foliage and countryside. We’ll visit a traditional Maple Sugar House for a demonstration and maple treat! Then, we’re off to Stowe, where the Hills Come Alive with a special visit to the famous Trapp Family Lodge. As Maria von Trapp once said, “Our life is like a beautiful story that happens to be true.” We’ll enjoy a savory Austrian-inspired lunch and hear their story on a unique History Tour! Later this afternoon, we’ll enjoy free time in the charming village of Stowe. Dinner is on your own this evening. (B, L)
Day 5
This morning, we depart for a day of exploration around the White Mountains of New Hampshire. We begin with a visit to the Franconia Notch State Park Visitors Center to enjoy a brief film and time in this lovely setting. Then, we’ll embark on an unforgettable journey with the Granite State Scenic Railway for a scenic 80-minute round-trip train ride along the picturesque Pemigewasset River. We’ll finish the afternoon with an exciting Gondola Ride up Loon Mountain, viewing the spectacular foliage and surrounding mountains. We then check into the Mountain Club On Loon Resort for the evening. Enjoy dinner together this evening. (B, D)
Day 6
Following breakfast, we’ll journey to Coastal Maine and Mount Desert Island, traveling the Kancamagus Highway, one of the most scenic byways in North America! Mid-afternoon, we’ll arrive at Mount Desert Island for free time in the charming coastal village of Bar Harbor before checking into Bar Harbor Regency Resort. Take time to freshen up before enjoying a delicious dinner together this evening. (B, D)
Day 7
After breakfast, we will meet our local guide for a tour through one of America’s beautiful and treasured National Parks, Acadia National Park. We’ll visit Thunder Hole and other scenic picture stops and travel to the top of Cadillac Mountain for spectacular views of Frenchman’s Bay, Porcupine Islands and Bar Harbor. This afternoon, we’ll embark on a scenic Nature Cruise out of Frenchman Bay, enjoying views of Acadia, islands, lighthouses and the down east coast from the water while looking for wildlife such as porpoises, seals and seabirds. Enjoy the balance of the day and evening exploring Bar Harbor Village and dine on your own at one of the many wonderful restaurants. (B)
Day 8
Enjoy breakfast before we venture down to Coastal Maine for a visit to the popular summer resort of Kennebunkport for a scenic drive along the ocean to Walker’s Point, viewing the summer home of past President George H.W. Bush. We’ll enjoy time at Dock Square for shopping and lunch on your own before continuing to the delightful village of Ogunquit, named by the Abenaki Indians, which means “Beautiful place by the Sea” and board the ‘Finest Kind’ Lobster Cruise for an authentic lobstering experience! We’ll then check into the Anchorage by the Sea in Ogunquit for the evening. Tonight, we’ll enjoy a delicious dinner at one of Ogunquit’s great restaurants. (B, D)
Day 9
Following breakfast, we check out and depart for Cape Cod! En route we will drive through the coastal village of York for a picture stop at one of the country’s most photographed lighthouses, Cape Neddick Light, more popularly known as “The Nubble.” Continuing south, we will arrive in America’s Hometown of Plymouth, where we’ll meet our local step-on guide and begin our guided tour, including picture stops at the National Monument to the Forefathers, Plymouth Rock and Mayflower II. Then, enjoy free time for lunch on your own along the waterfront overlooking beautiful Plymouth Harbor. We then continue to the Cape’s oldest town of Sandwich for a tour of the village, stroll around Shawme Pond, view the historic Dexter Grist Mill, take a sip out of the ‘fountain of youth’ and visit the historic Sandwich Glass Museum, where we’ll enjoy a glass-blowing demonstration. We’ll finish the afternoon with a tour of Hyannisport, home to the Kennedys and enjoy a picture stop at the Kennedy Memorial and Korean War Memorial overlooking scenic Veteran’s Beach, before arriving at the Red Jacket Beach Resort, overlooking spectacular Nantucket Sound for a relaxing three-night stay. There will be time to relax and freshen up before enjoying a delicious welcome dinner tonight. (B, D)
Day 10
After breakfast, we will depart with our local guide for Woods Hole, where we’ll board the Steamship Authority Ferry for a short voyage to the enchanting Martha’s Vineyard Island. Situated seven miles off the coast, this island boasts a vacation atmosphere like no other. What once served as a refuge for coastal ships, it later evolved into a bustling whaling community during the 18th and 19th centuries, ultimately transforming into today’s sought-after tourist destination. We’ll explore the unique charm of its island towns, stroll along pristine shores and step back in time to a more unhurried pace. We’ll discover Oak Bluffs with a guided tour, known for its collection of small Carpenter Gothic cottages in the Methodist Camp Meeting Grounds. Then, we’ll delve into Edgartown, famous for its stately Greek revival homes crafted by sea captains of yesteryears. Later In the afternoon, we’ll reboard the ferry and journey back to the mainland. Tonight, we’ll enjoy another planned dinner at one of the Cape’s wonderful restaurants. (B, D)
Day 11
Today, after breakfast, a local step-on guide will join us for a fun-filled day touring the lower and outer Cape! We’ll tour the charming seaside village of Chatham with a picture stop at the Chatham Light and the Cape Cod National Seashore for spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean cliffs. Then, it’s off to Provincetown – the tip of the Cape where we’ll spend some time browsing around the downtown waterfront area with all its artistic and eclectic shops before embarking on a Provincetown Whale Watch Cruise for sightings of these magnificent mammals in their ocean playground! Tonight, we’ll gather for a delicious dinner at one of the Cape’s great restaurants. (B,D)
Day 12
Enjoy breakfast this morning before we check out and begin our journey home. Tonight we will stop in Leola, PA., overnighting at the beautiful Inn At Leola, named among the “Top 25 Most Romantic Hotels” & “Top 25 Most Sustainable Adaptive Reuse Hotels” in America, by the National Trust for Historic Preservation’s Historic Hotels of America, as well as Forbes Verified Four Star Quality & AAA Four Star Diamond Certified. A delicious dinner is included at the Inn tonight. (B, D)
Day 13
Continuing our journey home, we will overnight at the Drury Inn, Columbus Grove City tonight. Enjoy the Kickback Dinner at the hotel tonight. (B, D)
Day 14
Following breakfast, we continue homeward, arriving in Southern Illinois late afternoon, packed with wonderful stories and memories of our Fall In Beautiful New England tour! (B)
