MagnoliaMagnolia Market at the Silos is a place where visitors have the unique opportunity to see a show they’ve grown to love come to life.  HGTV’s Fixer Upper launched Joanna and Chip Gaines into the national spotlight. A new collection of original shows curated by Chip and Joanna Gaines are now available through discovery+ and the new Magnolia Network, including new episodes of Fixer Upper:  Welcome Home, Magnolia Table with Joanna Gaines, and more.

Since the show’s success, they’ve expanded on their initial Magnolia Market concept which began as The Little Shop on Bosque and turned it into the beautiful 2.6-acre property that it is today.  The property, located in the heart of downtown Waco, is home to Magnolia Market, Silos Baking Co., numerous food trucks, Magnolia Seed & MagnoliaSupply, the Big Green Lawn, Magnolia Press Coffee Shop, Magnolia Home, Chapter One, selling books and paper; No. 16, selling men’s provisions, Tried & True, selling bags and jewelry;  Reverie, selling women’s clothing, Vie Bien Aimee, selling bath and body products and Juniper & Crew, selling kids and baby products. Magnolia Home features Decor and Lifestyle Goods Handpicked by Joanna Gaines.

Elements of an historic church have been relocated to the main area of the Silos grounds. Built in  1894, the original church is one of the oldest in Waco. For over 30 years, it had sat boarded up and vacant, which made Joanna and Chip all the more excited to be able to restore parts of its structure and give them a new purpose at the Silos, as a place where guests can sit and enjoy its beauty or just pass through.

There is a ballpark so families and friends can come play. There is also a concession stand, because a ballgame just isn’t the same without a snack in hand! Last but not least, there are more restrooms and more shade, along with a designated area for the food trucks.   So—there are lots of things for you to see and do, even if you’ve been before!!   And, don’t forget to visit Jimmy Don Holmes’ new store just down the street!  Also, there is the free trolley that can take you to other shopping areas or perhaps to the Dr. Pepper Museum and to our hotel when you are through shopping and browsing.

Day 1:
We travel to Texarkana, Texas, stopping for breaks and lunch.  Overnight at the Hampton Inn Texarkana.  Dinner is on your own at Magnoliaeither Outback Steakhouse or Olive Garden, both adjacent to the hotel.  Lunch is included.  (L)

Day 2:
Enjoy a continental breakfast included at the hotel before departing for Waco, Texas! We will make a fun morning stop, arriving in time for lunch on your own at one of the food trucks at Magnolia Market. Your afternoon is free to shop Joanna Gaines’ handpicked home décor and lifestyle goods, goodies at the cute shops or jump on the trolley to explore Waco (more than 60 boutiques under one roof at Spice Village!)  There are also more great finds at The Findery just across the street. Don’t forget the Dr. Pepper Museum! Magnolia

We will then check into Aloft Waco, just a few blocks from Magnolia Market. Aloft also runs a free shuttle to/from Magnolia Market and Spice Village! Dinner is included tonight at a Waco tradition – George’s.  Many have come and gone, but George’s is still here, for 80 years and counting! (B, D)

Day 3:
This morning we depart for Magnolia Table for breakfast on your own.  While breakfast standbys like bacon and eggs are on the menu, there are also new takes on breakfast dishes like the Southern classic deviled eggs topped with brown sugar bacon bits and avocado toast.   Magnolia Table is built on the land formerly occupied by the historic MagnoliaElite Café, where Elvis was known to have frequented while stationed nearby during his time in the Army.  The new restaurant pays tribute to the former eatery via vintage photographs on the walls, as well as a menu item inspired by the original Elite Café:  the “1919.”

Next, we’ll be joined by two city guides for our Magnolia Mix and Match Tour with Waco Tours, which includes seeing some of the Fixer Upper houses and a stop at Harp Design!  After our tour, we return to Magnolia Market for lunch on your own and any last-minute purchases you might want to add.  We depart then, stopping in Texarkana tonight at the Hampton Inn.  Dinner is on your own tonight at Outback Steakhouse or Olive Garden.

MagnoliaDay 4:Magnolia
We depart this morning following breakfast, stopping in North Little Rock for lunch and a tour of the Edgemont House, the home of Chris H. Olsen.  This estate is located in the Historic Park Hill neighborhood of North Little Rock and is a private, palatial garden estate listed on the National Historic Registry.  Chris is a nationally known home and garden guru, designer, author, TV personality and public speaker.  He purchased the house in 2016 when it was in a state of disrepair.  In about four months, he had revived it to its original splendor.

MagnoliaThis house exhibits the major characteristics of the Spanish Colonial Revival style:  tile roof, stucco walls, wrought iron grille-work and Magnoliaarched doors and windows.  With a gorgeous view of the Little Rock skyline, the Edgemont House is a much sought-after destination for weddings and events.  If time permits, we might stop at one of Chris’ garden centers.  We then continue home, arriving late afternoon.  (B, L)
