Day 3:
This morning we board our ferry for Mackinac Island. We will be staying at the Grand Hotel to-night. Glimmering like a diamond on an island of brilliant green, the Grand Hotel beckons you to a bygone era of old-world hospitality and charm. The crown jewel of pristine secluded Mackinac Island, the Grand Hotel has been America’s Summer Place since 1887. Upon arrival on the island, we will take a horse-drawn carriage tour of the island. There will then be free time for shopping and lunch on your own. This afternoon, a taxi will be provided for your transportation to the hotel as we check in. This evening, dress in your finest for dinner in the Main Dining Room. After dinner coffee service (demitasse) with a recital in the parlor are included. This evening, choose from a nightly movie, the intimate piano bar in the cupola, or dancing to the full orchestra in the ballroom (Terrace Room). (CB,D)

Rise and Shine coffee service is available in the parlor this morning. A full breakfast will be served in the Main Dining Room. Enjoy your morning, per-haps visiting the gardens, stables and galleries of the hotel. Grab a bite for lunch before we leave midday for our ferry back to the mainland. We then board our mo-torcoach for the drive to Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. Upon arrival, we will check into the Kewadin Hotel and Casino. You will receive $10 play, a $10 food coupon and a breakfast buffet. Tonight, we will enjoy a Soo Locks Dinner Cruise, an experience to remember, actually riding through the locks right alongside the big ships. It’s a maritime adventure that’s both educational and a lot of fun. You will enjoy a leisurely cruise on the St. Mary’s River along with a buffet dinner, complete with dessert. After dinner, you will experience “locking through the Soo Locks.” (B, D)

Door County is also known as the “New England of the Midwest.” It is the portion of Wisconsin that juts out into Lake Michigan. We’ll be staying at Stone Harbor Resort in Sturgeon Bay. Tonight, dinner is on your own at one of the nearby restaurants or at the hotel. (B)
